June 15th
Feeling really down right now. Could not exercise because I am on call. Also stressed out about Grand Rounds next week (why? it is so not a big deal, but I want to come across as smart). Also stressed out about work. As time goes by my tolerance for the nonsense at the office is quickly dwindling. Bob LaBarre kind of broke things down for me and he made some good points. Dick Landesman is a control freak and will never give up power. As LaBarre describes him, he is this crochety old man trying desperately to keep his little piece of the world. LaBarre is right that the best model for cardiology is a large group practice. You can offer more services. Less call. More leverage when dealing with hospitals. He is also right that Jane is crazy and her craziness affects everyone in the office. Donna is also kind of despicable. She pretends to be nice and do the right thing for you and for the practice, but she really does what is best for Dick and Jane and by association her. She is a liability to this practice as it grows. When it was a small little office she was enought to manage everything (billing, accreditation, keeping this uptodate, scheduling) but now things have gotten too complex and passed her by. You need a few people or someone with more professional training and experience. Where can we find such a person? Especially for a small practice? Donna may be best.
Too much about work. Just feeling kind of down.
Mood: -6
Tomorrow exercise, work on grand rounds, less T.V.
